Students are here to learn and practice English. The main goal of our English Only policy is to help students improve their English skills by surrounding them in an English environment. We also want all students, from all countries, to feel comfortable with each other. We have an English Only policy so that everyone is speaking a language that all students can understand. You cannot speak any other language than English at school. If a student is caught speaking a language other than English, that student will be asked to leave the school immediately. The student will not be able to return for the rest of the day.
Every student must have medical insurance upon their first day of study. Visiting a doctor in Mississauga or Winnipeg, can be very expensive if you don’t have medical insurance. Homeland International English School, Homestay staff and the host family are not responsible for medical costs if a student gets sick or has an accident. Students who attend Homeland, must have medical coverage. Homeland sells insurance coverage for $2.50/day (rate is subject to change). If insurance is not purchased from Homeland, you must show proof of alternate medical coverage. If you feel sick and would like to see a doctor, please speak to your homestay family or a Homeland staff member. We can go with you to the pharmacy or to a medical walk-in clinic if needed.
Students may take a break from studying. If you want a tuition credit or refund, you must:
